At the heart of our fireplaces: Finnish olivine stone

The structural material for Uunisepät fireplaces is quarried from Finland’s bedrock. Olivine stone is crushed into structural material and cast into elements.

Mäntyharju olivine stone is a pure natural material and is ideally suited for products exposed to high temperatures and repeated temperature fluctuations. It retains heat more efficiently than most fireplace materials and releases it evenly over a long period. Olivine stone does not deteriorate or release radon.

Mäntyharju olivine stone is Finland’s heaviest known stone material. Its density is approx. 3,300 kg/m³.

Our fireplaces are tested in our own state-of-the-art testing laboratory in cooperation with VTT.

Thanks to the IKON secondary air cassette developed and patented by Uunisepät, the emissions of all Uunisepät heat-retaining fireplaces fall significantly below the emission requirements of the Ecodesign Directive that entered into force at the beginning of 2022. IKON comes standard in Uunisepät heat-retaining fireplaces, and an official emissions certificate is also included with delivery.

Innovation for the environment and the user

Uunisepät has developed the traditional heat-retaining fireplace to be more efficient, safer, and more versatile to use. Development requires continuous testing and research. This also benefits the environment and the user.

Standard bottom connection

Excellent heat retention is based on the long circulation of flue gases inside the fireplace, allowing more heat to be stored in the fireplace mass.

Genuine Double Circulation

Double Circulation is an output-boosting system that extracts more heat energy from wood. Less wood is needed, making heating economical and emissions low.

Bypass dampers open

The bypass damper creates a direct flue path while the fire is being lit. This makes it easy to light even a fireplace that has been cold for a long time.

A safe and easy choice

Metal or block chimney? Black or white? What about outside combustion air?

More than half of today’s homebuilders choose a modern, smooth-surfaced round metal chimney. Its style is especially well suited to a fireplace with a stone or tile surface. Homebuilders who value tradition often choose a plastered, angular block chimney. Whichever chimney you choose, we have ensured safe compatibility between the fireplace and chimney, as well as good draft without separate auxiliary equipment. If needed, you can get an outside combustion air solution connected to the chimney. We work with Schiedel, Europe’s leading chimney manufacturer. Schiedel’s fire-safe complete solutions have been developed consistently for more than 70 years. Schiedel therefore provides a 10-year warranty on its chimneys. As with fireplaces, safety is our top priority when it comes to chimneys. Turun Uunisepät’s installers have already installed 25,000 Schiedel chimneys for heat-retaining fireplaces throughout Finland, none of which has caused a single fire. This will remain a point of honor for us in the future as well.

IKI-Steel metal chimney

The metal chimney is a high-quality, fire-safe, stainless-steel prefabricated chimney. It is a slim (Ø 250 mm), stylish chimney with a smooth surface, available in several different colors. You can choose a chimney in brushed steel, black, white, gray, or even brick red. It will therefore suit even the most discerning taste in interiors. A metal chimney is an excellent solution when the chimney starts from the top of the fireplace.

The metal chimney is insulated with hard, heat-resistant, non-sintering ceramic insulation that ensures fire safety.

IKI block chimney

The IKI block chimney is the slimmest block chimney on the market (320 × 320 mm). The block chimney can be finished to suit your interior, either with antique mortar plaster or colored mortar. It can also be finished with tile or even stone. The chimney can be connected to the fireplace at the bottom, at the top, or on top of the fireplace.

The block chimney’s ceramic inner pipe has excellent heat resistance. It is also resistant to deterioration and acids. The smooth surface of the ceramic inner pipe stays clean and hardly collects any soot. That is why it comes with a 30-year performance warranty against chimney fires and condensation moisture.

Outside combustion air

With a modern fireplace’s outside combustion air solution, outside combustion air is supplied either through the AIR chimney or through the subfloor. No separate vents are needed. An excellent solution for low-energy and passive houses as well.

Firewall

A firewall can be integrated into almost all Uunisepät fireplaces, allowing the fireplace finish to blend seamlessly into the wall.

A safe complete solution

The complete chimney systems supplied by Uunisepät meet all fire safety requirements introduced at the beginning of 2018. Read more about the regulations below.

We provide the required fireplace and chimney plans as early as the design stage of your home, so you do not need to worry about them.

– The EN 13063-1 T600 N1 D3 G100 block chimney has been tested in the T600 temperature class, with a clearance distance of 100 mm.

– The EN 13063-1 T600 N1 D3 G100 tandem chimney has a T600 temperature class and a clearance distance of 100 mm.
